Profile

Gabriel Tarriba Martinez Lopez is a PhD student at the Hertie School since September 2017. He joined DYNAMICS in September 2019. In his doctoral dissertation, he uses quantitative methods to explore the educational pathways and labor market integration of second-generation immigrants in Western Europe, using survey and register data. 

Gabriel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (2010) and a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School (2016). Prior to his doctoral studies, Gabriel worked at Adelphi Consult and the GIZ in Berlin, the Center for Public Policy Studies in Kuala Lumpur, and the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness in Mexico City. During his doctoral studies, Gabriel has worked for the Hertie School as Research Associate, teaching a Statistics lab for Master of Public Policy (MPP) students in the academic year 2018-2019.

His doctoral studies are sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the National Science and Technology Council of Mexico (CONACYT).
