Vincent Ramos is a PhD candidate at the Research Training Group "The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy" (DYNAMICS), jointly organised by the Hertie School and the Department of Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. 

 

Vincent Ramos is a PhD candidate at the Research Training Group "The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy" (DYNAMICS), jointly organised by the Hertie School and the Department of Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman (cum laude) and has worked as an economist for the Philippines´ antitrust agency for two years. He obtained his Master´s in Public Policy at the Hertie School under the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme for Good Governance. His Master´s thesis analysis whether labour market formalization addresses the unemployment problem in developing economies and whether this nexus exhibits nonlinearities. In collaboration with Philippines-based academics, he has also written on the topics of informal employment, higher education, and intellectual property. 

Vincent’s dissertation project revolves around informal and nonstandard employment during periods of crisis as both an outcome of economic uncertainty and a determinant of future family formation (particularly fertility) and labor market outcomes.
