Comparative Politics

Welcome to the website of the Chair of Comparative Politics!

Empirical democracy research is at the core of the research and teaching activities of the Comparative Politics team. We study decision-making processes of citizens and political elites in the context of post-industrial societies and how political systems shape and react to societal change. In particular, we are interested in understanding political institutions in representative democracies such as governments, government departments, and the legislature as well as their interaction with societal actors such as citizens, the media and political parties.
