After her degree in Political Science in Vilnius and work in civic education Ieva Motuzaite did her doctoral studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from 2016 to 2020, funded by the Elsa Neumann Scholarship. She completed her doctoral degree in Intellectual History with a study on the reception of Hobbes in the works of Leo Strauss and Carl Schmitt through the application of a combination of different methodological approaches. From 2019 onwards she worked as a Postdoctoral researcher and Visiting lecturer at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Leuphana University Lüneburg. Currently, she is replacing 50% of the professorship of the Research and teaching area Political Theory.
Her scholarly interests touch upon philosophy of religion and critique of religion in Early modern period as well as methodological questions towards history of political thought.
