The Women's* Representative of the Department of Social Sciences

The Women’s Representative of the Department of Social Sciences advocates for equality for women  throughout learning, teaching, research, service and administration at the institute.

 

 

  • She takes part in personnel and employment processes within the Department, with the goal of ensuring the equal treatment of women in all occupational groups.

 

  • She provides information about support and development programs for women in academia and research and coordinates the distribution of the Institute’s decentralised funds for women.

 

  • She advocates for improvement in the reconciliation of work and family life.

 

  • She is the contact person for cases of discrimination against women.

 

  • She actively supports the continual development and implementation of the Equal Treatment Concept of the Department.

Diversity at the HU

In June 2021 a series of web pages on the topic of diversity at the HU were published, in which information about diversity, equality of opportunity and anti-discrimination were made available. These include guidelines, concepts and committees relating to equal treatment activities, with reference to diversity, at the Humboldt-Universität, along with an overview of the opportunities for advice, consultation and support for different target groups at the university.

Guidelines for Gender-Equitable Language at the HU

The university leadership of the HU has published a set of guidelines for gender-equitable and non-discriminatory language. The language guidelines offer pragmatic tips for ensuring that everyday communication at the university is inclusive.

Information for Students

Are you the first one in your family to go to university? firstgen (first generation students) offers students who are the first generation of their family to attend university a program of empowering mentorship.
The programme is available for people of all genders.

  • Funds for Women of the Institute for Social Sciences:

In accordance with the

Guidelines for Funds for Women of the Humboldt University, §9 (3)

the institute makes a part of its annual budget available for the support of women.

 

The Guidelines for the Distribution of Funds for Women in the Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Humboldt University of Berlin

provide information about the goals along with the distribution process of funds for women.

Information about Application for Funds for Women in the Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Humboldt University of Berlin

provides guidance for applicants on the application process.
Applications for funds for women can be made on a rolling basis. Funds can only be used for material resources whose purchase can be retrospectively proven. Applications can only be made for events that lie in the future.

The next deadline for the distribution of funds for women is the 25.06.2021.

Interested parties must hand in a PAPER as well as an ELECTRONIC application (as one PDF file; subject line “Application Funds for Women 2021”) at the decentralized Women’s
