Tristan Klingelhöfer is a research and teaching fellow at the Chair of German Politics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since October 2020. He holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and previously received a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Mannheim.
His research interests lie at the intersection of party politics and political psychology with a focus on post-industrial democracies. His previous work has been published, among others, in The Journal of Politics, Party Politics and Acta Politica.
In his disseration, Tristan Klingelhöfer analyzes the role of emotions in party competition. The project seeks to understand why, how, and to what effect political parties aim to influence the emotions of voters. It combines a number of methodological approaches and compares Germany, Austria, and Italy.
