Jochen Müller is professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Chair of German Politics since October 2020. His research and teaching is concerned with legislative behavior, government formation, and party competition. The "German case" is often either the focus of the investigation or starting point for comparative analyses. His research has been published, among others, in Political Analysis, West European Politics, and Regional Studies.


After studying Public Administration at the University of Konstanz, he defended his dissertation at the University of Potsdam in 2013. While working on his dissertation he was a research fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and the University of Oldenburg. From 2013 to 2015 he was a lecturer at the Unviersity of Essex and from 2015 to 2015 Junior Professor of Political Sociology at the University of Greifswald.
