Vincent Ramos is a PhD candidate at the Research Training Group "The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy" (DYNAMICS), jointly organised by the Hertie School and the Department of Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. 


He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman (cum laude) and has worked as an economist for the Philippines´ antitrust agency for two years. He obtained his Master´s in Public Policy at the Hertie School under the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme for Good Governance. His Master´s thesis analysis whether labour market formalization addresses the unemployment problem in developing economies and whether this nexus exhibits a nonlinear relationship. In collaboration with Philippines-based academics, he has also written on the topics of informal employment, higher education, and intellectual property. 


Over the course of his graduate studies, he was a student research assistant for the Institutions and Political Inequality Unit at the WZB Social Science Center Berlin, a teaching fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin - JFK Institute for North American Studies, and a lecturer at the University of the Philippines-Baguio´s Department of Economics and Political Science.   


Vincent is mainly interested in labour markets during periods of crisis, particularly on intra-household labour supply responses and the persistent effects on earnings and career advancement of entering the workforce during recessions.
