Lukas Zidella is writing his dissertation on the transformation of international orders; he examines the question of how international orders end. Based on the premise that hegemonic wars have lost importance as catalysts of transformation processes - not least due to the proliferation of nuclear weapons -, he analyzes the internal processes of disintegration for two of the most significant orders of the 20th century: the order of European colonialism and the socialist order of Eastern Europe centered around the Soviet Union.
