Social Planning of the City of Stuttgart
Social Planning has existed in Stuttgart for more than 50 years and today it is part of the Department of Social Affairs and Social Integration.
Social planning aims at the conception and establishment of differentiated and tailored offers of social infrastructure in the various neighborhoods. In addition, also target group and intergenerational offers and meeting possibilities are planned. Innovative offers are often initiated via a project.
From a purely target group-related planning, the Stuttgart social planning in the last 10 years has increasingly developed towards integrated, participation-based and implementation-oriented planning processes in the neighborhoods. According to our self-conception as social planners and social planners, a participatory and social space-oriented social planning in negotiation processes links the interests of various actors of the urban society. Social planning initiates and participates in urban development processes in order to implement the social infrastructure (advice, housing, day structure, etc.) and opportunities for meeting and to register housing for people in need of support or low material resources. Social planning participates in planning committees, is involved in the tendering of urban planning competitions and in the allocation of urban land.
For this reason, we as social planning like to be a partner of the research project "Nachbarschaften des Willkommens" - together with the district head of Stuttgart Untertürkheim. She is the central contact person for the residents and lobbyists in the district, but also for all administrative units, represents the district to the outside and therefore brings a comprehensive expertise for this project.
The results of this research project have a lot to do with the interests of other planning areas. This includes the topic of successful neighborhoods and good coexistence in the neighborhood, the structuring of the support structures of refugees and the important ongoing issue of adequate provision of affordable housing.
