Abstract:
The project asks if and how different neighborhoods affect political participation of first and second generation Turkish immigrants in Berlin. To explore this question a standardized survey was conducted, followed by qualitative in-depth interviews. The thesis shows that specific neighborhoods – where civic resources such as voluntary and other organizations concentrate – play a crucial role in the political activation of first and second generation immigrants.
