Call for Papers
The 10th Graduate Network Conference will take place at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) in March 2018. The conference gives PhD students of the network universities the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects, and to refine their theoretical and methodological approaches. PhD students in all stages of their doctoral research are invited to submit an abstract. Papers in sociology and political sciences are equally welcome and may focus on theoretical, empirical and/or methodological questions.
Programme
The programme of the Graduate Network Conference combines panels and workshops. As soon as all candidates are selected, a list of the participants and their respective subject will be distributed. This gives everyone the opportunity to find people who are closest to their own topic. Panels will then be organised according to the subject, the methods used and to the wishes expressed by the participants.
During the panels each presenter will have about 20 minutes to present his or her paper. Papers that reflect the current stage of the PhD's research project are welcome but contributions may also focus on specific aspects/present some related findings. Each paper will then be discussed by another PhD student and there will be ample time for an open discussion afterwards.
The programme including the Panels and Presentations can be downloaded here:
Application instructions

Please indicate your department and your year of study as well as your contact details. Successful applicants will be informed by 15 January 2018. Final papers of maximum 6000 words should be submitted by 14 March 2018 to the above address.
Graduate Network
The European Graduate Network brings together graduate students of sociology and political science from leading universities in Europe. The network encourages and facilitates collaborative research of the PhD students of the participating universities, emphasizing multi- and interdisciplinary approaches to political and social sciences such as political and social theory, political economy, comparative sociology, international relations, and public policy. The network aims to provide opportunities for PhD students to improve their research projects, to discuss advanced methodological tools and to practice presenting and discussing academic work. Currently, there are seven universities participating in this exclusive network: Central European University, European University Institute, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane, Institut d‘Études Politiques de Paris, London School of Economics and Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
After nine successful conferences taking place in different cities of the Network, the 10th Graduate Network Conference will be held at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin once again. The conference gives PhD students of the network universities the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects, and to refine their theoretical approaches and methods. Thereby, the aim of the conference is to strengthen opportunities for exchange and cooperation between the participating institutions.
