Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS)

Travel Expenses

Regulations

Since 2015 BGSS can only contribute to the co-funding of conference trips and research stays on a very limited basis. We invite you to first apply for external funding for your travel projects and to ask for the support of your supervisor(s) in order to receive some add-on funding. The Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin provides limited co-funding opportunities for doctoral researchers at: Resolution of 25/06/2014 on the issue guidelines for the use of the faculty’s portion of the programme allowance.
The Department of Social Sciences is co-funding doctoral research activities as well. For more information: Fördermittel für wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs aus Haushaltsmitteln des ISW.

Moreover we will be glad to assist you in applying for Erasmus mobility funding in order to cover your costs for travel and accommodation. If BGSS then can help to fill a small gap in your travel budget we will do our best to support you. Please don’t hesitate to ask for our feedback concerning your funding plans.

In general - please try to keep travel expenses as low as possible and book your flights well in advance.

Refundable are: economy class plane tickets; train tickets in second class; car only for special exceptions; accommodation costs and daily allowances for short stays in countries with higher living costs.

Procedure

Please inform us about your travel plans by sending an e-mail with short description of your travel project and first calculation of how you plan to cover the costs to Martin Nagelschmidt and Marlene Mingramm.

Reimbursement is only possible if you hand in forms (see below) and the originals of the tickets and receipts not later than 14 days after your trip.

You can pick up the yellow reimbursement form (not available as pdf) at the secretary's office.
