Title
Senegalese and Gambian Collective Imaginaries about Migration – Production and Reproduction in Countries of Origin, Transit and Destination and Implications for Migrants and their Age Mates
Supervisor
Abstract
Collective imaginaries about migration have implications for the mobility behavior of people in the countries of origin but also on migrants’ lives abroad. The project examines the production and reproduction of collective imaginaries about migration and their implications through the example of the two West African countries Senegal and the Gambia. Both countries have a long migratory history with Europe and an ongoing migration to various European countries that shape collective imaginaries. The project’s transnational approach combines the perspectives of migrants in transit and destination countries and of their age mates in the countries of origin.
