Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Institut für Sozialwissenschaften

International Network

The BGSS is part of an international network of graduate schools, universities and research institutions fostering exchanges on the doctoral and faculty level.

European PhD in Socio-economic and Statistical Studies

Since 2009 the BGSS has been the coordinating institution of the European PhD in Socio-economic and Statistical Studies (SESS.EuroPhD) with a consortium of eight universities (Haifa, ELTE Budapest, Barcelona, La Sapienza Rome, Tampere, Southampton, Lille, and Université Libre de Bruxelles). Doctoral Researchers starting at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin are automatically members of Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences.

European Graduate Network

In 2010 the BGSS was admitted as an official member of the European Graduate Network, a network of seven top graduate schools in Europe (EUI, University of Barcelona Pompeu Fabra, Institut d’Études Politiques (Sciences Po) Paris, London School of Economics, and Central European University Budapest, SUM). The aim of the Graduate Network is to bring together graduate students of sociology and political science from leading universities in Europe. The network encourages and facilitates collaborative research of the PhD students of the participating universities, emphasizing multi- and inter-disciplinary approaches to political and social sciences. In spring 2012, the BGSS will host the next Graduate Network Conference.
